A tragic speedboat accident near Vietnam’s popular island destination of Phu Quoc has claimed the lives of 15 Indian tourists, sending shockwaves through the travel industry and prompting the Indian government to activate emergency assistance for affected families.
The speedboat, carrying 32 Indian tourists along with four crew members, overturned while returning from Hon May Rut Island to An Thoi Port, about 400 metres from shore. According to Vietnamese authorities, 21 people survived the accident, while rescue teams continued search and recovery operations. Initial reports indicate that rough seas and high waves may have contributed to the tragedy, although the exact cause remains under investigation.
